Vitamins analysis of human samples

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

I am new to HPLC, but I would like to use this technology to assess the levels of water and fat-soluble vitamins from human samples. I would like to be able to identify/quantitate as many vitamins as possible from one method.

Does anyone have a suitable methodology or tips?

Thanks,
James.

As always, a good reference book is very helpful.

In this case,
Modern Chromatographic Analysis of Vitamins
Andre P. De Leenheer, Willy E. Lambert, Jan F. Van Bocxlaer
Marcel Dekker. 3rd Ed. ( 2000 ) ISBN: 0-8247-0316-2

This book will provide plenty of literature references, and points out many of the pitfalls of vitamin analysis.

Please keep having fun,

Bruce Hamilton

Look at the Waters website at the following brochure on Atlantis dC18. http://www.waters.com/webassets/cms/lib ... 0793en.pdf.

On page 7, it shows you a gradient separation of water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins.

Below is LC-MS/MS application for water soluble vitamins on
Unison UK-C18:

Thanks everyone. The links and references have been really useful.

Hello James; I am starting to read some articles because I am concediring to do my Thesis on a related thesis; I probably I am not so usefull but I advice you put atention to the sample preparation.
you can run fat and waters soluble vitamins in a single run; but this allways going to be limited for your ability to extract as much vitamins as you can in a single step.
This going to be my first experience with this kind of determination; In fact prior to the chromatographic method I am seeking a good sample preparation procedure.

Regards.

Oscar.
