Column Storage Question

I was running some hLH/hFSH fractions on my column (Superdex 75 - 10/300 GL) with an isocratic buffer (CH3CN/NH4HCO3) and when I was finished I decided to purge the system and column with milli-q water thinking that the worst that would happen would be I would have to re-equilibrate next time I used it. Manufacturer's website is kind of sketchy on the storage conditions (other than pH and chemical stability). Was this acceptable? Any forseeable problems with long-term storage with just de-ionized micro-filtered water? Link to manufacturer's specs below.

I believe I'd make up CH3CN - H2O flush solvent in the same ratio as in your buffer, and wash out all the carbonate, and leave it packed with that.

I would never leave my column sitting in water (even if purified/milli-Q).

If not properly flushed, it can lead to buffer precipitation. Flush with ONLY milliq water to get rid of the salt, completely. Follow this with the ACN/water (without buffer) flush and store in the same.

Long term storage in water can create bacteria, de-stabilize your stationary phase (resulting in longer re-equilibration times, and above all can hydrolyze your stationary phase.

Always aim to store in a 100% ACN if long term. But do not forget to flush with ACN/water prior to running your salted mobile phase.
