CTC PAL - crushing syringes on power off?

I have acquired used GC and LC PAL autosamplers. Both of them when power is turned off let the injector fall down. If syringe was installed it would be broken in no time.

Is this normal? Or something (springs? tension cord? brake?) needs to be adjusted/replaced in the injectors?

Hi

When PAL sampler is off injector should slowly fall down, depends how good tension cord is.
As there are 2 tension cords I suspect you've got at least one completely worn out.

When I power off the PAL, I like to remove the tray, then place my finger just behind where the syringe would extend through the syringe guide, turn unit off, then gently move the whole arm and guide it to the hole in the tray holder and "park" it there. Syringe safe.

Thanks for advice. I will probably need to replace the tension cords then.

We have all of ours serviced each year. Cords replaced, rods and gears cleaned, etc. Think we've got 10 of them.

As recommended, the tension cords need to be replaced.
