Hi all,

I am puzzled why FPD uses more H2 compared to FID. Can anybody help me by explaining it ?.

Thank you

Hi!

The FID needs a complete combustion of the sample, that's why you have to provide more air than fuel gas (hydrogen).

The basic principle of the FPD is to reach the max. emission of specific atoms like sulfur atoms. This is accomplished at an appropriate temperature, thus you don't have to use so much hydrogen as a fuel.

Now, is more or less H2 used by which?

Hi, to summarize, the FPD needs more H2 than the FID.
