I have my needle locked in the up position. Is there a way to manually lower the needle carriage through chemstation or other means? I do not have Lab Advisor.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:

=SOLVED=

It appears that when I was changing a rotor seal, I had to move the needle guard to get better access. When I did so, I unseated the (tiny) needle position sensor that seats at the top of the guard. I made sure the positioning hole in the ribbon was seated on its pilot peg, and the sensor was seated in its intended position. Reassembled, cycled the power, and the carriage initialized to its proper position. This resolved the issue.
Sounds like you may have forgot to correctly adjust and/or tighten the height of the need in the union holder fitting during install or removal (or just have a damaged/worn A/S). In the professional classes that my boss teaches for servicing the Agilent 1100/1200-series modules, he notes that you should always have a G1323B hand held controller module available for use in servicing these modules. Agilent removed many of the service/diagnostic features in the G4208A controller (and also starting with ChemStation Rev B.04.03 and OpenLAB too). The Autoinjector's "step" and related functions are available in the G1323B controller. In some cases, the control modules are so much easier to use than Lab Advisor plus can be connected directly to the module under test, not through the software. Best to have BOTH if you use one of these HPLC systems.
BTW: ARE YOU AWARE THAT LAB ADVISOR SOFTWARE IS FREE TO DOWNLOAD on Agilent's website???? No reason not to have it. It costs nothing.
I was not aware that it's a free download. When I googled it, it was on Agilent's web site (PART No. M8550A - Agilent Lab Advisor Advanced Software) with a $2000.00 price tag. I guess there is a non-Advanced version.

Thank You!
It sounds like you were looking right at one of the many the pages on Agilent's site with the free software. The page which shows the Advanced version of the software also shows the free download link to the latest version. Just click to download, install and configure for your system. *The standard version limits you to FIVE complete instrument configurations (stored) and the Advanced version removes this limit. You can always delete one or more saved configurations to add a "new" one using the Basic version.

BTW: Their are online sellers ("scammers") who "SELL" the free instrument module User Manuals and the basic LabAdvisor software on ebay and other websites. Do not pay for or be scammed by those sellers as the manuals and software have always been available for free to download.
