Dear all,

Have you got any experience with determination SULFATE and SULFITE in sample from technologycal waters. I can use for this app. METROHM vario 940 with SeS suppresion. Can I use Metrosep A Supp 10 250/4 for this app? Have you got experience with standard stability ? eg Will not it decompose SO3 to SO4 during calibration ?

Thank you
BR

Sam

Hello,

In order to separate and to make sure there is no decomposition you need to add about 1-2.5% acetone to your eluent. Also ASUPP 7 250 is the recommended column for this analysis.

Metrosep A Supp 10 also works.
The best stabilization of sulfite is adding 10 mmol/L formaldehyde to the sample /Diluent. Also 2% isopropanol showed to work.

Thank you,

I found IC-standard from Fluka (Sigma - Aldrich), 1000 μg/mL in 1% NaOH, do you have any experience with standard ?

Thank you

This standard is stable as it is. For dilution I would recommend to use one of the above mentioned stabilization methods. These dilutions should be renewed quite frequently.
