Waters 2695 / Agilent 1100 max column temperature

Hi everyone,

We are looking to buy an HPLC system to run some carbohydrate analyses, and the protocol calls for a column temperature of 85°C. I have seen several papers saying they have used this protocol and temperature using a Waters 2695 or Agilent 1100 system, however the manufacturers' specifications indicate temperatures up to 60°C and 80°C, respectively.

Is there any known way to get the column compartments to heat up higher than the manufacturer's specification?

Thank you for your help!

Not to my knowledge, but it is highly likely they used an external column compartment (third party) with these systems.

We just used a stirring beaker full of filtered water at 85 Celsius as the mobile phase supply for 'Simple Sugar analysis' (~40 years ago).
