I have the nist98 library for my 5972 ms and have somehow lost access to it from the ms software. Does anyone know how to get the library designated as the default search library?

OK, I'm assuming the Nist98 library directory is already on your hard drive or on your CD. Easy. Go to Data Analysis, then column titled Spectrum, then Select Library. Then, under Library Search parameters, enter in on first line the location of your library directory, such as C:\Database\Nist98.L or D:\Nist98.L or whatever your library directory is called. Don't forget to put a number such as 50 into the right hand column, and make sure you include the .L in the name. If you don't get a hit quality higher than that entered number, the search will continue in your second-chosen library. So if you want to bypass Nist98 or your first (default) choice, temporarily enter 99 into that to force it to go to the next library.
