Has anyone had experience using a Polyarc adaptor on a GC-FID?

I understand it converts all organic molecules to methane after separation for a more uniform FID response.

Can anyone elaborate on the benefits or pitfalls of using a modified detector?
I know of an application in the analysis of permanent gases. TOGA. Used to convert gases that might be non detectable with FID alone, or makes them more detectable by adding the methane group (methanizer) such as CO or CO2.
