1,3 dichloropropene quantification

Hello World,

In our lab we have to do analysis on drinking water. We need to measure 1,3 dichloropropene (cis en trans).

We have the standards and then there is no problem. We have a good separation.

But in real samples we don't see anything.

We already spiked the samples before extraction.

Some where in the extraction or the GC we lose the 1,3 dichloropropene.

Does anybody has some experience with this problem?

It would help,if you posted details of the extraction method. Advice without anything to go on is worthless :?

Hi

1-3 Dichlorpropene easily decomposes over time.
Sodium thiosulfate preservation is not recommended for cis- and trans-1,3-
dichloropropene and bromomethane. These analytes decompose over time in
sodium thiosulfate solution. Use HCl or H2SO4 instead if possible
If analysis is required for these analytes in sodium
thiosulfate preserved samples, analyze as soon as possible and verify potential
decomposition losses with field spikes or lab studies.
Hard for us to help further if no details are given to how store (temp and time) and you work up your samples (purge and trap?)
