Good afternoon everybody.

I would like to know if the GC-MS detector or the filament could be damaged when we use, on a regular basis, an air plug in the syringe before the sample to transfer the sample completely.

thank you very much.

The air will be no worst than a solvent. There are fewer molecules of air in a microliter than there are molecules of solvent in a microliter when you are doing a liquid injection. If you are turning filaments off for solvent, the air should be a total non-issue. (I use air plugs for some work - and my only concerns relate to what is going on in the inlet.)

Thanks Don.

I actually do a 1min splitless time and 4.0min solvent cut time.

good bye.
