DAD UV Scan Chromatogram Peak Intensities

How is a DAD UV chromatogram generated? I notice that a DAD UV scan (205-605) chromatogram has lower peak response for compounds that show high response at individual wavelengths within the scan region. For example, a compound that has a large response at a single wavelength of 254 nm shows a very small response in the scan chromatogram. I thought the scan chromatogram should show all peaks for all compounds that absorb between 205-605 nm at their amx intensities.
