All day I got the statement "Forbidden" . . . when I wanted to post a reply. Another server fault?

I always find this forum is down some way or another, usually I see the "cannot access database" MySQL error.

Maybe the server is mad at you, because you post so frequently...

It happened once to me as well...

It happened to me yesterday when I replied to a post. However, my reply made it through and i didn't get any further "forbidden" warnings

Hey, you just gotta ignore these warning signs, especially the ones that start with "Forbidden...".

And I was already starting to fear that Uwe was right, above.

Sigh! Yet another ISP problem.

I've run into this myself recently, and I'm not entirely sure what the root cause is. The proximate cause (in my case, anyway) was trying to enter a "too-long" URL. The work-around was to use www.tinyurl.com to generate a shorter version.

I encountered the "post forbidden" bug also, but I beat it!!!

I just copied my post (after pressing previous screen button), signed out, then back in, went back to the "post a reply" screen and pasted my old post. Done!

There may be simpler ways to do that too.

I have tried also different things, some times the work sometimes don't. Generally modifying the text a little bit or just adding the "---" as first line it works... Trying to post the same exact thing again and again has failed me though...

Copy and repost worked only randomly for me.

Cleaning out your IE offline content will help, at least sometimes.

(Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files)

Tom: I have a hunch that the "forbidden" bug pops up, when two users are writing a post at the same time.

The only consistent pattern that I've been able to find is when posting a long URL, but that doesn't seem to match other people's experiences.

Uwe, I'll try simultaneously posting later on this evening and see if I can make the bug bite reproducibly that way.

I'll report back in tomorrow.

There has been this other startement which claims the forum is overloaded (too many people simultaneously active).

It seems that once one gets "forbidden" then it stays for hours, but other headings still work. For instance, if one gets forbidden in LC one can still post in Water Cooler.
