Changing Carrier Gas - PE Autosystem

Dear All,
I have read the manual on changing carrier gas and it appears straight forward. The instrument is set for helium and I propose to use hydrogen.
Has anyone done this before?
Do I really need to re-calibrate the carrier line again before changing over? Anything I need to watch out for?

When replacing helium with hydrogen, it might be a good idea to translate all your methods accordingly. To do so, you can use GC Capillary Column Method Translation Software from Agilent. Downloaded it free of charge from http://www.chem.agilent.com/cag/main.html . There are several options (called Criteria) for the translation. All options preserve peak retention pattern. I recommend option “Fast Analysisâ€

We do this so quite often. You need to reconfigure the instrument to use H2 as opposed to He as the carrier. Once you change this, then you do need to recalibrate the carrier flow after you have switched to H2.

Other than that, things should go smoothly.
