Looking for the type approval for a Carlo Erba 5000 ECD

Somebody offered me a Carlo Erba 5000 series GC for free.

The only drawback is that I need the written type approval for the ECD found on such a unit.

Everything I tried was in vain: ThermoFisher (who buyed out Carlo Erba some years ago) don't have any documentation for these units left.
I also contacted some users of that type of GC (you'd be surprised where these are still in use) but everything was to no avail.

So I'm turning to you on my quest for said document.

I'd be very glad if you could help me out.

If the ECD predates Thermo Fishers take over its source is probably decayed and it will not perform as it should anyway.

Thanks for the hint :)

My primary concern is to be allowed (by law) to transport the GC with the ECD mounted (for that you need the written type approval).

Regarding the quality of the ECD I know that several large German companies are still using the original ECDs from 1990 for routine analysis and that these perform as expected.

That's very interesting, if 18 year old ECDs are still running the manufacturers are being VERY conservative with their 5 - 6 year recommendations for lifetime. No chance that they are pushing turnover of course  .
