Alex, I have been learning how to use Matlab for AIA interpretation from Cerity output on the windows side. I run Cerity through Bootcamp or Parallels. I run Matlab in OS X. You don't have to use Matlab for this. In my technique, I am happy to let Cerity do the integrations, it is very good at this, I just control post-processing (output) with Matlab. However, I think there must be some freeware (Python?) to read netcdf (AIA) files for Mac OS. Have a google. Hope this helps?
