capillary

I have heard that someone to test autosampler doesn't use a coloumn but restriction capillaries. Could someone tell me something about these capillaries?Do you know which companies sell them and which is the prodouct name?

Dear Daniela,

The function of restriction capillary is to create sufficient pressure when the system operates without column in the cases when you test some modules of your HPLC. It has to be sufficiently long. You can read what are the recomendations for the conditions of the autosampler test of your HPLC system producer in the manual. If you don't find such recomendations you can use 2-3 m long capillary with 0.12 or 0.17mm ID. For example such restriction capillary from Agilent has a PN G1362-87301. But what exactly you want to test of your autosampler and give more details about it - producer, model...
