For GPC analysis we use a Viscotek Tetradetector array that has UV, RI, Viscometry, and light scattering detecors (right angle and low angle) with a THF mobile phase. I had a power outage and the instrument came back up but when I inject our polystyrene standards I see peaks in the RI, UV, and on the Viscometer signals but nothing on the LS signals. There appears to be some random noise but no peaks at all...

I can't see anything overtly wrong with the instrument...anyone have some ideas here??

Thanks for your help.

My guess is that the light scattering source laser is not outputting light for some reason (Laser on the TDA not turned on, or laser in need of replacement).

If you will contact our technical service department in Houston, we will be happy to help troubleshoot this for you.

You can reach the office at 281-445-5966, or visit the website at www.viscotek.com for information on technical services.

Regards,

Todd

Right you are...
The Laser button was turned off. I must have had a brain spasm...

Thanks;

Glad you were able to get it working!

By the way - the laser has a limited lifespan and will need replacement eventually. To make it last longer, you can keep it turned off except when running samples.

Thanks,

Todd
