Using ChemStation, did anyone ever come across this error line?
Plot Trace, Line To Failed.
it happens after the 1st line in a sequence and brings it to an end.
we are guessing is the software but not even reinstalling chemstation helped.
suggestions?

We had this problem on a couple of instruments about 4 years back. I found a patch on the Agilent website called "traceplot.exe". I ran the macro (described in the instructions that came with the download) on the method we use the most and it fixed the problem. Apparently the error is method specific.
Here's a quick copy of the text associated with the program:
"The error as noted is a result of defect ID 183 with the Instrument Control display problems. Within the method folder, the file ACQ.MS has become corrupt with entries in the {Plot} section, usually Top Plot 1= will have an abnormal high value"
Sorry I don't have a link to where you can find it on the site. You'll have to hunt around. I do recall that it took me a while to find the solution to my problem. But at least this way you'll know what to look for.
thx

Hi Ginebra,
Not sure what version you need, but we are using a patch for Revision C (G1701CA) of Chemstation. I still have the patch files available. They are dated January of 2001. You said that Agilent's site had files for a newer version. I can't seem to locate them at the moment, so can't compare.
If you think my copies will help you, contact me off line (email in my profile).
solved

well, thank you for your help.
In the end we solved it asking Agilent to send us someone. Today it works again and i finally saw the beautiful line "Sequence finished".

Hello everyone!
I recently came across this error and with the forum's help was able to find the Agilent patch, which fixed the error.
Since this error effects the top plot, does one think that the abnormally high values might exist without the error message appearing? The reason I ask is that I recently received PT results for EPA 524.2 THM/VOCs and most passed high with a few failing high. All of the QC passed (low/high checks, IS, Surrogate and Dup). Plus I ran the PT samples multiple times before reporting any of the values.
Any guidance is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Sherri

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I had an instrument stop mid-sequence with the same error. The unusual thing is that it doesn't appear to be method-specific. We re-started the sequence and the same method runs fine. I can't find the Traceplot.exe file on the Agilent website. Does anyone know if the patch is still available?
