I am having issues with the recovery of carbon tetrachloride. I am seeing diminished peak size and was wondering if there is any known correlation of this with trap degradation or moisture management.

What is your carrier gas? Hydrogen attenuates carbon tetrachloride at least with a vocarb 3000 trap.

I have seen loss of carbon tetrachloride when traps become contaminated. Do you see higher levels of chloroform, dichloromethane or chloromethane? If so it could be active sites on the trap. It can also be contamination of the sparge vessel or the internal lines of the purge and trap or the transfer line to the GC.
