Hi, I have a silly question involving Chemstation and our old HP1100. I have an FLD and a PDA on the unit, and it seems that I have to turn on both detectors to run a sample, regardless of my needs.
I'd like to save the lamp in either unit, but how do I get the lovely 'ready' light when a unit is off? Do I have to take a unit out of the configuration of Chemstation (A.10)?
Dear Matthew,
You can solve your problem easily. In your LC method (when configuring the method parameters> you could try this through the option in Chemstation: Edit entire method) when you'll get to the detector parameters, you could exclude the desired detector from your method. By this the loaded method won't search the excluded detector so you could switch it off (and save detector lamp(s)).
That can be done, for example if you want to exclude the PDA detector from your method, by switching the lamps (UV and visible) "off" in the "control" window under the detector parameters and also choose in the "signal" window (under detector parameters) spectra not to be stored.
In that way, the method won't search the excluded detector, you could switch it off, and then chemstation will give you the ready status (of course if the method included instrument modules are already turned on and initialized

)
Hope this helps
Regards
