Hi all, I am currently writing up my final year method development project and am a little unsure as to whether the actual method development part of the write up where I state what conditions I change and why I changed them and what effect they had go.

I think i should go in the Results and Discussion Section but also part of me thinks it should be in the method, any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers JT26

Personally, in the methods I would list the initial starting method and then (sequentially) list the problems encountered and changes made to the method to resolve them.

In the results and discussion, list the outcome of each change and its impact on the development of the method.

If it is for publication, I usually see in the METHOD section a step by step description of just the final method, and in the RESULTS and DISCUSSION a description of how you got there--rationalization of column choices and detector choices, chromatography conditions, effects of changing parameters, etc., as well as validation of the finalized method.
