I never imagined it could ever happen but Agilent announced that they would be acquiring Waters Corporation in a hostile takeover bid. It is hard to imagine what this will mean to the ground troups fighting with HPLC every day but lets hope it goes smoothly. The new company name is expected to be WattAge.

I always thought that when Glaxo Wellcome merged with Smithkline Beecham and became Glaxo Smithkline (GSK), they should have named the company "Wellcome to Glaxo Smithline Beecham" - it has a much friendlier persona
