We have a GC-HS from PE for blood alcohol analysis.
The GC is Clarus 500 with FID detector, Turbomatrix Hs-40 sampler &
Elite-BAC1 column.
The peaks were ok but befor 2 days it is start to tailing!!.
I have cut portion of the column from injector side and detector side but didn't solve the problem.
Any idea about the reason? Could column condition may help?

The problem may be in your transfer line. Do you have your column threaded through it or do you have a simple line connected to a column which remains in your GC?
If threaded, perhaps you have cracked the column.
If not threaded, perhaps you should clean or replace the transfer line.
If in doubt install your backup column and determine if it is the column giving you the tailing or the HS 40. Trouble shooting is always one step at a time.
best wishes,
Rod

Thanks alot Rod
1. what do you mean by threaded?
2. how transfer line is cleaning?

"Threaded"
The column is installed within the transfer line along its length, a tube within a tube.
OR
The column can be attached at the end of the transfer line in series.
To clean the transfer line the line is usually disconnected from the HS analyzer and the GC. Cleaning solutions or solvents are then passed through the line removing any contamination inside the line.
I hope my explanations are clear.
best wishes,
Rod

Higher volume injections can cause abnormal tailing.
How much are you injecting on the column? What solvent?
