Hello,

I am trying to develop a residual solvents analysis of a drug product. One of the few solvents it is very soluble in is PG. Has anybody had any experience with propylene glycol as a solvent for head space? By the way I am analyzing for methanol, and my limit is 500ppm in the drug product.

I have no first hand experience with PG as a solvent for headspace but based on my experience, I would advise that there will be no problem.

I would use small samples (less than 0.25mL) in 6mL vials if possible and use temperatures below 85°C for equilibration.

Don't forget to run blank PG samples to verify no interferences.

best wishes,

Rod
