free ammino acids quantification using GC FID

Please excuse me if this is a very dumb question, but I am just trying to get some ideas together for some future work. I am looking into using GC-FID to determine free amino acid from marine invertebrates. I have been thinking about using EZ:faast (or some similar kit). However on their web site it states that is not possible to determine Arginine on a GC. Two questions:1) Is this true, 2) is there any way around it?
Arginine would be of particular interest to me.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer

Cheers
Adam

According to a lot of references arginine is not adequately stable to perform GC analysis.

Have you ever found a reference doing so? I have not.

There are references to measuring the metabolites of arginine. Perhaps you can measure it indirectly in this manner.

Sorry I don't have references to give you. Perhaps you can find them yourself or others here may be able to share with you.

best wishes,

Rod
