Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Thermo electron columns.

I like some of the things they offer in their catalogue but I do not have much experience with their products.

Does anyone have any experience to share - positive or negative.

Much Thanks
Adam

Thermo bought several years ago Hypersil-Keystone so they mainly commercialize their products. If you are familiar with the latter name, you probably have an idea of the products offered. I have used their products in the past succesfully, including their porous graphitic carbon columns (i.e. Hypercarb)...

Thermo also bought out Keystone a few years ago. I like their Betasil and Prism columns.

We have a great range in Hypersil GOLD......good peak shape, easy to use and available in the 1.9um through to 5um and 12um.

Disclaimer: I work for ThermoFisher

Let me ask a more specific question.

They have a polar embedded column which is kind of unique. Instead of putting the polar functional groups on the C18 chains, they actually have separate (short) chains that contain the polar functional groups.

Has anyone ever compared these to "regular" polar embedded columns. I am curious what the difference would be.

Much Thanks
Adam

I have never used their Aquasil line of column, but I like their Fluorophase RP, Hypersil Gold and Hypersil Gold PFP column. Column lifetime of the hypersil gold is not bad at all.
