Yeah Right now I have OV101 column(packed) with me to analyse the aforesaid compound with GC/FID.

I really (This is first time to use such type of co,pound) unable to figure it out how should I get on to this aassighnment. Like more specifically I want three answers,
1. Suitable (Column--- Packed or cappilary and name of the column)
2. Limits of detection (Minimum comcentration(ppm) levels which could be detectable.
3. What are the safety measures (Type of Masks, Jackets, etc.......

I will be ever greatful to you who ever going to help me.

I assume you are the same Mekala that posted another thread. I suggest you do not make a blind reference to it as many may not know you posted the details in another place. Why don't you stay in that tread for your additionial questions? Or at least restate your details here so readers will know what you are talking about?

The analyte you wish to measure is 2-chloroethanol, correct?

and your answers:

capillary is from Supelco: SPB-624 30m 3µm 0.53mm ID

LOD: depends upon your detector FID will give you about 2-5 ppm with a 5% solution of drug (2µL direct injection), or 20X less if sample is liquid and directly injected. Helium ionization detector will give several times more sensitivity.

Do not allow chemical to contact skin is a minimal safety suggestion.

Your packed column will probably give two orders of magnitude higher detection limits.

good luck,

Rod
