Shape selectivity w C30 columns

(I tried piggy-backing this question on another thread - but it got lost in the mix).

There are some companies that make C30 columns. I have heard these types of columns can be very usefull for separating compounds that are structurally very similar; and possibly even diastereomers.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience to share on this.

I was analysing carotenoids on C30 column and got a nice separation. It was much better than on C18 column.

I tried one once for separation of steroids (some Diastereomers, some minor changes in the skeleton, some other substituents) without success. C-8, C18 (with different pore size) and polar embedded didnt solve the poblem either.

I do not have personal experience with these columns but an interesting feature is that the do not present any dewetting effect so they can be used in 100% water (if necessary) with no problem.
