Looking to detect non-volatiles (sugars, amino acids, peptides, etc).
Can anyone give me their personal preference, comparing the ELSD's from Alltech and Polymer labs and the Corona discharge from ESA. Which has the widest order of magnitude detection and the greatest sensitivity and ease of cleaning (use).

Any comments would be appreciated.

You should also consider the ELSD from SofTA Corporation.
Imtakt has been using this detector for a while now and having
great success with it.

The Alltech detector is quite simple to clean. However they don't offer much in the way of on-site service (if it's available it will be through a "third party" provider).

My personal favorite is the Sedere ELSD with both good sensitivity and ease of use...

I have the sedere 85. We don't use it much. I ran a demo of the CAD and the sensitivity was quite a bit better. My personal favorite for non-volatiles is RI.

Generally speaking, the RI is quite limited due to the gradient elution inability, which narrows significantly the spectrum of applications...
