Hello,

I'm working on a simple method to quantitate free amino acids using PITC. However, my lab is currently unequiped with a vacum for PITC extraction from the sample so I'm planning on using Heptane extraction. Does anyone know how to do a Heptane extraction? If I mix the heptane with my sample consisting of EtOH:H2O:TEA:PITC (7:1:1:1) how will the heptane seperate the PITC from the derivatized amino acid? Any help will be much appreciated.

PS One last question, would Hexane work in place of Heptane?
