I have a problem with over tightening. I ended up stripping some of the screws on my GC.

Anyone know the part numbers or what these parts are called.

The inlet, where the septa sits... I'd like to get the new snap on kind.

The male end of the nut where the column goes into the MS, I assume its that whole long piece I'll be needing to replace.


Any info is greatly appreciated!

The screws are typically M4 X 0.7 metrics with Torx heads.

The inlet and transfer line stuff, look in the chromatography supply house catalogs. I know for sure that Restek has these parts but I am sure others do as well.

I have several of the flip-top inlet nut systems, they work great. As far as stripped screw holes, you could buy some small taps and tap slightly larger threads and use corresponding screws, available from McMaster.com or Ace Hardware stores. For the MS transfer line nut, that is the end of the heated transfer line housing, and you could either replace that part or try to find a "die" to clean up its threads. Maybe its thread is same as for 1/16 inch Swagelok fittings (for which there are dies available), but really seems to be same thread as traditional 1/16 inch HPLC male nuts, so I think I'd try to find a die that size and clean up the threads. Even a stainless steel nut of appropriate size may help clean up those threads (remember the seal is made on the internal surface with the ferrule, not at the threads), just keep everyting in-line when doing this. We had to get the transfer line on our Agilent ms replaced a few years ago, I can't remember how much it was but it was expensive.
Some one actually managed to bend the threaded part at the end, God knows how!!

At least with 5971 and 5972, the transfer line is "loose" after venting the MS and unscrewing the connector, and has just one electrical connector. We do such jobs ourselves.
