This is regarding GC-TSD detector bead lifetime regarding. From our instrument history, we observed hardly the bead life time is maximum for 2 years and last time its life time is only 11 months.

Any relationship between the purity of gas and the bead lifetime. I have found the bead will be affected if the chlorine containing compound is injected.

Can you please give some info?.

Thanks
anish

anish_habiba,

Bead lifetime is affected by quality of bead, applied voltage or current, samples being shot, solvents being used, ets....

See the other post about NPD for comments on source voltage. Also, avoid chlorinated compounds (especially solvents) whereever possible, consider turning off the hydrogen flow for solvent elution, examine your conditioning procedure.... All of these are things that can help/hinder your bead lifetime.

Best regards.
