I have an unusual problem with the GC-MS. Let´s see if someone has experienced the same.
I have a GC program starting at 60 degree. When I start the temperature program it often (only recently) stops after some minutes because the inlet is not reaching the setpoint pressure (and therefore flow decreases a little of what it should be). The machine suts-down as a consequence. The temperature when it reaches this sut-down point varies within runs.
Before I start the temperature program I have checked for leaks and everything seems fine. However when the temperature increases I can see that the nitrogen content increases (even the leak test gave less than 5% of nitrogen what is the recommended).
I have read the troubleshooting and the most probable things from my understanding is to have:
- A large leak is present somewhere in the system
- Since I am using split/splitless inlet that the inlet´s proportional control valve is stuck open or closed because of contamination or another fault.
Can anyone help me? How can I know if it is the vale? Or if it a leak, where could it be to be depended on temperature?
Thanks,
Saioa
