Hi,

I am quite new in GC and we are on process to buy a GC for sulfur in diesel analysis (detection limit is around 5 to 50 ppm) but if it's possible can do other than sulfur analysis.

My colleagues advise me to go for PFPD or AED since SCD is quite troublesome to maintain. I would like to have the other opinion on the three GC detectors mentioned from all of you.

Could you explain to me the sensitivity and the selectivity of both detectors? I am trying to find the second opinion instead of just from the manufacturer spec sheet. If you could tell me the reproducibility run to run, it will be very helpful also.
Most of my colleagues advice me to buy AED since it's more stable and less interference, is it correct?

An AED could analyse a broader range of substances,but is more complex to usethan a PFPD.

I have used all three detectors. The AED is probably overkill for your application. You can use either the PFPD or the SCD for the analysis, and there is not that much difference in the maintanence needed for either detector. The SCD is more sensitive and less subject to interference than the PFPD, and the Sievers configuration with the SCD in series with an FID is a very nice solution for fuel analysis.
