Hello,

I am starting the determination of pentachlorophenol in aqueous extracts according to ISO 15320:2003(E) standard. The standard referes to Propylphenyl spe columns (500 mg/3ml) however I can not find such spe phase. Would it be a phenyl phase? Can anyone help me.

Disclaimer first: I have never done this test but I have a Standards subscription so I downloaded ISO 15320.

I wouldn't worry about it. The description propylphenyl only appears once in the Apparatus clause. Elsewhere in the standard it just says phenyl, but the ISO15320 also cites preparation of cold and hot water extracts in EN 645 and EN647. Maybe there are more details there. I haven't downloaded those.

It looks like a Standard that was drafted by a tight group who had the SPE columns already and forgot to put alternative SPE in an informative note.

If it is a really important issue the authors are always contactable through ISO and CEN Technical Committees.
