for this chromatogram

which is for blank solvent (ethyl acetate) by Agilent GC-MS 5973B and HP-5ms (30m,25mic,0.25mic) for 1 min @ 60 C then 10 C/min for 300 C where kept for 3 min.
spliteless, 3.5min solvent dealy, 1 ml/min He flow
scan from 50 to 550

why there are no peaks?
why it's going up at the end?

Che313,

It is going up at the end because of column bleed. Look for 207 ion in scans out there.

Could be that the main ion is below 50 amu but even so, the secondary ions from the solvent should show up. No peak is probably because your ethyl acetate comes out in the solvent delay. Put a know amount of something heavier in there like dodecane at 50 micrograms/ml. Out of curiousity, what does the scan at 3.6 show?

Best regards.

Why do you expect to see peaks when you inject pure solvent ?
