How do you resolve these errors?

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

I work with methane oxidation measurements, and my Shimazdu GC 2010 running Ez Start 7.4 has been giving me the following errors:

GC Hardware Error at 11/28/2007 5:13:13 PM. Value 254.000000 Error #9004: Carrier 1 septum counter warning

GC Hardware Error at 11/28/2007 5:13:13 PM. Value 254.000000 Error #9007: Carrier 1 insert counter warning

I looked up in the manual and it says that these are not errors and they just need to be cleared from the machine itself. I read those instructions and ran a system diagnosis but all that did was detect the problems and report that those two problems were still there. Anyone have any ideas how to fix those or what caused them?

Hi Methane nin

These are just maintenance warnings alerting you to the fact that your septum and liner have not been changed for the requisite 100 injections.

The little pop ups are annoying but nothing serious.

I'm running different software to you for my GC 2010 but if you find a menu or sidebar called "consumables" with a button "details" click on this and explore the options. A few clicks away there should be an option to reset these counters (after you have done the requisite maintenance of course ) and the pop ups shall bother you no more.

There is a way of doing this through the GC instrument itself but it is buried down a few levels.

Hope that helped
