GC-MS Baseline

I have good sensitivity but a bad baseline. When I look at it from 0-70mins it is "hairy". When I look at it from 0-1min it has wide spikes which are cycling every 6seconds. There is no "real" spectra associated with this.
The multiplier has great trouble tuning and the zero is very high when doing this. However in the end the tuning compound spectra is good except for noise at low level in the region 0 - 45 amu approx. (ie air/water region).
Shall I start with GC or MS?
Thanks in advance for replies

hy, i introduced myself. Im diego from argentina...
well if i could understand the problem is the baseline around The M/Z values for Co2, h20 and air i think you have to delay that zone or increase the multiplier values another possibilities is The Gc/fid is your analite is suitability

i hope these Help

Hi friend, I would like to know your MS model, and the intensity of the "hairy" region. Is it significant compared with your analyte peaks?
What does it means "zero" when you do tuning?

Thank you

If there is a high background, the tune result shows a lot of noise in the air/water region, and the tune voltage is high the first thing I would do is to look for a leak, probably a relatively large leak.
