Cross referencing to previos topic

Sometimes when answering it is useful to refer to a previous topic. How is this done?
Copy-n-paste the URL of the previous thread from the address bar of your browser, e.g. http://www.sepsci.com/chromforum/viewtopic.php?t=2617
Alternatively you can sometimes refer to a single post within a thread, although I think this (optional?) code is not implemented on the ChromForum.
