I believe my Chiralcel OF column may have been damaged through the use of ethanol. I was planning to rinse it with a 50/50 mixture of hexane/isopropanol and then test it with a chiral compound. My question is what would be a good test compound (and conditions) for this type of column?

Check with Chiral Technologies/Daicell and find out what they use to test the columns for QC.

I contacted Chiral Technologies. For anyone else interested here are the test parameters:
Column Size: 0.46 cmI.D. x 25 cmL
Sample: trans-Stilbene oxide (1.0 mg/mL in mobile phase)
Injection: 10 uL
Mobile Phase: n-Hexane/2-Propanol = 90/10 (v/v)
Flow Rate: 1.0 mL/min.
Detection: UV 254 nm
Temperature: 25°C

For normal phase chiral application, TSO is standard compound for column efficiency, and you can use 1,3,5-Tri-tert-butylbenzene to measure dead time.
