Re-use of mobile phase

Is it possible to re use mobile phase or even to recirculate it?
Possible ? - yes. Advisable ? - that depends.
You cannot reuse or recirculate if you are running gradients. Analyte and other sample components build up in concentration in the mobile phase so the baseline drifts continually. At one time, and maybe now, you could buy an automated valve that interfaced with the detector and switched mobilephase that conatined peaks to waste, while recirculating the rest.
