HPLC Reference Recommendations welcomed, please

Basic questions from students; resources for projects and reports.

I want something that is geared more from the HPLC user's viewpoint that is heavier on application and lighter on theory. But, I would also like a good modern theory book that is readable if such a thing exists.

Most of the references I pickup major on theory and don't have enough real world examples.

Will this one satisfy me:

Practical HPLC Method Development, 2nd Ed
Lloyd R. Snyder, Joseph L. Glajch, and Joseph J. Kirkland; 800 pp., $110.00

The Snyder, Glajch, & Kirkland book is the standard text on method development. It does have examples, but is probably still mainly theory-oriented. If you want real-life examples, go to the LC-GC website (there's a link in the sponsor area on the upper right) and read through back issues of John Dolan's LC Troubleshooting column. One of the nice things about John's column (aside from the readable style) is that he spends time dealing with things he tried that didn't work. [by way of "full disclosure", I've worked with John for the past 20 years]

And the LCGC Magazine is free! I like it. I like it.
I'll definitely check out Mr. Dolan's column.
