Running ChemStation and MSDChemStation on one computer...

I had the ChemStation A.10.02 installed on my computer, using it in offline mode for processing (installed in /hpchem folder)

I added the MSD-ChemStation software after and although I specified the installation into the /msdchem folder, now the original ChemStation won't run. When I try to run it, I get a few errors related to missing .dll's and then "One of the library files needed to run C:\HPCHEM\CORE\HPCORE.EXE cannot load in the 16-bit Windows subsystem because it is a Win32 DLL"

I tried installing the softwares in a different order but to no avail... Anyone has any idea how to do this in the simplest way possible?

Thanks,

Roxanne.

We had a look at doing this and were told by Agilent that it was not possible.

But it is possible. Both, Leonardo A.10.02 and Mustang D.01.02.16 coexist friendly on one logical drive. And the best proof may be found here:

OS is Win2k Pro PL - both ChemStations are offline, however I don't suspect problems with online mode - one at a time.

PS - Please believe me, that another configuration is exactly the same as Roxanne's:

but Leonardo was installed after Mustang installation.
This instrument works mainly in MSD mode under control of MSD ChemStation D.01.02.16. And the OS is WinXP Pro US.

I'm convinced something went wrong with Roxanne's MSD Chemstation installation.

Actually, I found out the problem...

My original ChemStation version is 16-bit, as opposed to 32-bit. The MSD ChemStation is 32-bit. Since they share common drivers, this is obviously a problem. I ended up installing the MSD ChemStation on a different partition with a separate O/S that I already had setup. Requires reboot when I want to use it but it's the best I found I could do, short of running a VMWare kind of thing.

Thanks though!

Could you please let me know your MSD ChemStation version number ?

Wojtek

MSD ChemStation is D.03.00, but I also tried with D.02.00 SP1. The problem appears to be the 16-bit A.10.02 ChemStation.
