Hi,

Why Can't we run Chemstation & Ezchrom Elite simultaneously on one single PC for two GC systems connected to it ie. one with chemstation & other with Ezchrom.

No idea :D However the most likely reason is that the two programs both use a file of the same name and directory as each other. With the price of PCs so low why are you not running two PCs ? If you must have just one PC run just one software for both.

We have limited budget this time  . Maybe next budget we will be able to get one PC.

At present we are bound to do so.
What will be the possible problems if i run both at a time?

We have limited budget this time
An off-lease Dell desktop: less than $300 (http://tinyurl.com/3xnjqf)

A KVM switch (to let you use a single keyboard, video, and mouse on 2 PCs): about $30 (http://tinyurl.com/3anmcg).

The time and aggravation saved over trying to run both programs on a single PC: Priceless!

Have you actually tried to install both, and have you asked Agilent if it's possible?.

My suspicion would be that you may be able to, but the extra hassle makes it a very bad idea.

My suggestion would be to keep reminding your boss how slow his, or his secretary's computer is, and that he should upgrade it ASAP to maximise efficiency. Then, just claim his old one. In large organisations, it's always easier to get somebody's cast off than apply for Capex. Next option, take somebody useful from your IT group out for dinner or to a sports game, and work from there...

With luck, Chemstation will run on an older simpler system. Note also that the EZChrom is sensitive to the firmware of instruments, so you may need to upgrade that if they are older GCs.

Hi Bruce/All,

I appreciate all your inputs on this.
Please keep me updated with any latest information on this.

Agilent says it's not recomended.

I tried Chemstation (Rev. A.10.02) & demo version of Ezchrom (3.2.1) which works fine on my PC with windows XP. I don't see any problem running so.
Let's try my luck.

regards
