Dear all

I wanted some suggestion for cleaning syringes during THM analysis. If i run THM samples by manual injecting and then to check if i run a pentane blank i get serious contamination of THM in that. But if i use a new syringe and inject the blank is ok.
Similarly i get these contamination if iam detecting some halocarbons in natural samples.

Generaly as a rule i clean the syringes with one polar and non polar solvents after each injection.

Please send me some suggestion.

Use a vacuum line to flush solvent through the syringe with the plunger removed. Then wipe the plunger with a chem-wipe moistened with the cleaning solvent.

Repeat until you have a clean blank.

best wishes,

Rod
