Hi Guys,

Do anyone have application of chiral separation of Dexibuprofen [(S)(+)-Ibuprofen] and [(R)(-)-Ibuprofen.

I have a chiral column "alpha-napthyl urea, 250x4.6mm, 5u" of JT Baker (Mallinkrodt Baker). They have given Ibuprofen, naproxen, fenoprofen, amphetamine etc. under application column in their catalogue. Can I use this column for aforesaid separation. Can anyone forward if application on this column if it is there. I just want to avoid spending on new column if my purpose is solved with JT Baker column.

Your column vendor would be the best person to check with.

Hi DR,
I have sent my query to vendor but still to get any reply on that. I think with so many great chromatographers in this forum, I will get the solution sooner than possible.

I need application on any chiral phase and want to know if this is possible on alpha-Napthyl Urea phase.

I hope my problem will get solved.

Many of the Pirkle type columns are designed for the separation of NSAIDs. I'd guess the Whelk-O would be your best choice. I'd recommend emailing technical support at Regis Technologies (www.registech.com) for additional support. Their online chiral application guide shows the separation of Ibuprofen on page 9.
