I am looking for chromatographic conditions (column, temp, flow) for separating SF6 from air and water. I am looking at headspace analysis of SF6 from water samples.

Suggestions?

Best regards.

SF6

Hi Matthew,

Porapak Q 100/120 3 meters in a nickel tube or glass. 60°C 40cc/min or less elutes before water and after air, almost coeluting with ethylene. Water will elute in 15? minutes or so SF6 in 3 min air in 1 min.

Alternative is a 1% SP-1000 on Carbopack B 80/100 mesh. Same conditions

Alternative is 5% Krytox 143a on Carbopack B 80/100 mesh but not sure about the water elution.

best wishes,

Rod
