Somehow the previous thread was locked (used Loctite?). Anyway, someone in my department did get prescription safety goggles, they are available. I'd have to check to find out the source. I think he found them through a Google search. They look like standard safety goggles.

A few of the manufacturers of lab safety glasses have a prescription insert that clips inside the safety glasses. The blank glass inserts are fairly cheap, but then you need to have them ground to your prescription by an optometrist. I bought a few for the lab, but found out that the blank glass insert is too thin to be used for my eyeglass prescription.
I have also seen "generic - non prescription" reading glasses available as lab safety glasses.
Look in any of the general lab supply catalogs (VWR or Fisher) or Lab Safety Products. They are usually called "RX Insert". Again, make sure they are compatible with your eyeglass prescription.
Your best bet is to consult with a good optometrist before you buy from a general catalog. My company now supplies lab safety glasses from a local optometrist. They are basically regular eyeglasses with side shields. ( I rarely wear them, as I prefer my regular glasses).
If you need full safety goggles, they should be available also. If your local optometrist only offers a limited selection that is "distributed by the national franchise", look for an independent who can custom order what you need.
