Injection communication problems with Shimadzu GC 17A FID

I have a Shimadzu GC 17A FID and a Shimadzu AOC 20i Autosampler. When I go to run a sample, the autosampler goes through its routine, but when the autosampler injects the sample, the GC FID does not start the temperature program. I have tried resetting the autosampler, fid, and the computer for the fid in various sequences, but I still have the same problem. Any suggestions? I can bypass it by manually pressing the "start" button on the FID, but that doesn't seem to help when it comes to analyzing the peaks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Josh,
Sounds to me like your autosampler is not sending a start signal to the GC. Is there supposed to be a cable between the GC and the autosampler? Don't have Shimadzu so I cannot help other than that general statement.
One thing though, what do you mean when you say using the start button doesn't seem to help analyzing peaks? When you use a manual start, are you getting a real chromatogram?
Best regards.

Hi,
Do you start routine from software? Which type of software you have?
I presume that GC not only "does not start the temperature program" but generaly doesn't start analysis including data collection? Dou you have cable from autosampler box connected to GC's "Start IN"?
